Ajaigarh - Historical City of Madhya Pradesh

This place was a capital of a princely state with the same name during the rule of the British Raj.  In 1765, Ajaigarh was founded by Guman Singh, Abundela Raiput, a nephew of Raja Pahar who is a Singh of Jaitpur. He was captured in 1809 by the British and it became the princely state in the Bundelkhand Agency of the Central India Agency. 



Ajaigarh had an area of 771 miles (1997 kilometers) with the population of around 78,236 in 1901.  Their rulers were given the title Sawai Maharaja who commanded with estimated annual revenue of around £15,000.  At the foot of the hill-fortress of Ajaigarh, the chief stayed in the town called Nowgong from which the state took its name.  



​At this Indian Tourist Place, there is a fort that is situated on a steep hill and it stands more than 800 feet (244 meters) above the township and it has the ruins of several adorned temples with sculptures that are carved elaborately.  During the year 1868 to 1869 and 1896 to 1895, the town is always afflicted by malaria and most of the people suffered severe famine.  

On January 1, 1950, the state acceded to the Government of India, where the ruling chief was granted a privy purse of Rs 74700 and the courtesy use of titles and his own styles.  But on 1971, all of these were revoked by the Government of India.  They used to-be princely state became part of the Indian state of Vindhya Pradesh.  Most of the territory of the former state, including Ajaigarh, it became part of the Panna District, where smaller portion goes to the Chhatapur District.  It was on November 1, 1956 when Vindhya Pradesh was combined to Madhya Pradesh.  



Attractions:
Forts of Ajaigarh – if you and your family want to visit this Indian tourism spot and spend a royally short vacation, you can come here in Ajaigarh to see the divine temples as well as the kingly mansions.  The Ajaigarh fort shows the engineering skills of the Chandela rulers.  On the mighty Vindhaya range, you will see a structure that is 1110 meters tall and it was mainly built to protect the territory from the attack of the enemies. 



​Panna – This is another Indian Tourist place near Ajaigarh where one would experience wildlife and jungle. This small city is famous for its tiger reserve, which is spread over an area of 543 square km and diamond mines. Panna is located at Vindhyachal Ranges with an average elevation of 433 meters.  It is not visited not only for its National wild life reserves, but also for the shrines and monuments.  Other places of interest in Panna are the Mahamati Prannathji Temple, Kalinjar Fort, Pandav caves and the Panna National Park.  It is also considered a significant pilgrim site for the Pranami sect followers around the world.



Chitrakoot – this is also called Hill of Many Wonders.  It is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh as it covers the distance of 62 kilometers from East to West and 57.5 kilometers from North to South.  

​The residents of Chitrakoot speak mainly in Bundeli and Hindi.  As a holy destination, they only serve vegetarian dishes at this place.  This place is very popular for pakode, dum Bhindi, Gobi musallam, and sultani dal.  You can also find some sweet specialties at this place like petha, peda, rewri and gazak. There are several festivals and fairs being organized at this place like Dipawali, Navaratri,, Ramayana Mela, Ramnavami, Vijayadashami, Amavasya Fair and Shrawan Jhoola Mela.



Weather Conditions:
​It is the best time to travel Ajaigarh is during the months of December to March.  The temperature is around 14C with 36% of humidity and the wind coming from the East at 6kph.

If you plan to visit Ajaigarh, you can stay in any hotels located at Khajuraho and Panna with the price range of Rs800 to Rs20, 500.  

How to reach Ajaigarh?
By Air: If you travel by plane, the nearest airport is Khajuraho which is around 45 kilometers from Ajaigarh.  There are flights to major cities in the neighboring states.  

By Train: There are two major railway hubs, which are Khajuraho and Attara.  It is about 45 kms and 60 kms respectively to Ajaigarh.  

​By Bus: If you visit Ajaigarh via bus, it is about 25 kilometers from Panna.

Ghazipur: Historical City of Uttar Pradesh

I love to travel different places and that is the reason why search for secret, known and unknown locations so that my journey will become perfect. My today’s target is Ghazipur that is also spelled as Ghazeepore, Ghazipour and Gauspur. I will refer the place as Ghazipur city as that is the most popular name of the place. Ghazipur is also a headquarters of big rich agricultural state Utter Pradesh, India. 

As per the sources Ghazipur name derives from the Ruler's name Sayyid Masud Ghazi. This Muslim ruler defeated the local King of the city and established this town as a big commercial place for his empire. Records says Ghazipur was established in 1330 CE. This town was also the major center for British East India Company. 

Opium factory established in 1820 by the British government is one of the major sources of income of the city. Ghazipur opium factory is one of the biggest plants in the world. This industry is producing a huge quantity of drugs for world pharmaceutical industries. Other big trades of Ghazipur are rose oil and perfume (attar) of roses. Handloom is also famous in Ghazipur City. 

Frankly telling the city is having limited tourist attractions, but the nearby other locations allow voyagers to enjoy the trip of Ghazipur properly. Here I am discussing some major spots that you can plan if you have decided to attain Ghazipur. 

Ghazipur: A historical city full of traditional substance of Syed Masood ruled till 1330. Earlier the city was known as Gadhipuri, though later it was changed to Ghazipur. The city is having a best Cornwallis monument that is the major attraction here. Cornwallis is made of four meters high flooring with gray marble. The big holy river Ganga is flowing from this region so you can take a holy dip in this river. Spend your beautiful time of evening at Ghats and hear the noise created by water of river Ganga.  

Pohari Baba Math: A holy place of the town located closer to River Ganga at 4 km distance is one more attraction of Ghazipur. Local transport is available from the Ghazipur station and other parts of the city to reach Pohari Baba Math.

Aunrihar: Initial location of the region is Aunrihar in the western part of Ghazipur. The only distance of 3.2 km from another town Saidpur makes it easily reachable spot. If you love to watch historical places, then Aunrihar is best for you. Here you can enjoy the archeological spots build during Muslim rulers.

Bahadurganj: Next destination close to Ghazipu is Bahadurganj situated close to River Saryu. This attractive location is 35 km far from Ghazipur founded by Sheikh Abdullah in 1742 AD. Ramnavami is the special occasion when a fair is conducted in Bahadurganj. 

Bhitari: Another tourism spot at 32 km gap from Ghazipur. Bhitari is closer to Saidpur town, though its name is derived from Bhimutri word. Great archaeological place famous for Buddhists temples. Gupt Era was the main period of the development of the town. Popular monolith made of red stone is a prime spot of Bhitari. 

Dildarnagar: Nearby cities and towns are amazing in Ghazipur and Dildarnagar is one of them. This town lies on the highway between Varanasi and Zamania. It is only 20 km far from Ghazipur. If you split Dildarnagar, then it will be Dildar (means kind hearted) and Nagar (location). The world Dildarnagar mean place of hearted people. This ancient place is famous for the hospitality of Ghazipur localities. 

Gauspur and Zamania are two more attractive places located closer to Ghazipur. Gauspur is only 14 km away and Zamania is only few km away from Ghazipur. 

How to reach Ghazipur?
The best part of Ghazipur is a different mode of transport to reach the destination. You can get the train, can come by road, select the waterways or come by air. The city is having all methods through which you can easily attain to your favorite destination. 

By Train: Ghazipur railway station is connected to major North Eastern cities of India. Trains from Varanasi, Delhi, Patna, Howrah, Lucknow, Mumbai, Amritsar, Guwahati, Chennai and many big cities of India. 

By Air: Airport at Andhau is another good method to reach the Ghazipur city. This airport is only 9 km away from Ghazipur. However, limited flights and VIP plans are only allowed to land in this airport. The biggest airport is in Varanasi that is only 90 km far from Ghazipur.

By Water: Ganga is the big river and a port of Ghazipur is connected to Haldia and Allahabad so you can reach Ghazipur through water as well.

By Road: Ghazipur is the big city of Uttar Pradesh and it is properly connected to various parts of the nation through road. Buses and private taxis are available from Shastrinagar, MahuaBaag, Rajdepur, Varanasi, Delhi and some more cities.

Ananthapur: Historical City of Andhra Pradesh

India’s glorious city Ananthapur is prime target today. This tourism place of India is famous as holy region. However, the city is having different nearby best tourist attractions that mean if you reach the Ananthapur then you can enjoy many other tourism locations.

Ananthapur is also known as Anantpuram and Anantpur so don’t get confused if you get different spellings on the internet while searching for this destination. This city is the headquarters of Ananthapur region AP (Andhra Pradesh) state, India. The city played a vital role in 2nd World War for British East India Company.

Climate: 
The semi-arid climate with dry and hot conditions can disturb you, but the place is really impressive for voyagers. Summer is not a good season to visit as you will not be able to roam outside during the day time due to high temperature. Winter and the pre-monsoon rain that starts in March is a good time to reach the spot. The best period for Ananthapur is between Septembers to January. 

Talking about tourism spots in the city, there are limited locations to visit. However, the surrounding spots are amazing and must attain destinations. Once you reach the Ananthapur then you must go to the surrounding tourism places of the city. 

Attractions in/nearby Anantapuram:
Dharmavaram: The first place of the city is Dharmavaram that is located in a gap of 46 km from the central part of the city. Dharmavaram is 200 KM away from Bangalore. You will get the city transport from Anantpur to reach Dharmavarm. This initial place is having historical values like this place was ruled by King of Bijayanagar Vidya Empire around 500 years ago. Don’t forget to visit the Dharmavaram tank that is one of the largest tanks of the region. Dharmavaram town is famous for the shrine of Sri Lakshmi Chennakesava. Silk Saree of the town are famous and exported to abroad nations as well.  

Gooty: Next tourism spot of Ananthapur is Gooty that is just 52 km away from the town. You have to get the Kurnool to Bangalore highway for Gooty. Here you can visit the old fort of AP (Andhra Pradesh). You will get the local transport for Gooty from Anantpur. The fort constructed at this place is actually special because of hill area. You have to trek 300 meters height to reach the fort. Construction was done during the ruling period of Vijayanagara Kingdom. Structural design of Gooty fort is different than other monuments of India so we can say it is must visit place of Ananthapur.  

Hemavathi: Once you are in the town you can attain to Hemavathi that is another tourist spot of the area. Hemavathi is located at 37 km distance from Madakasiri, though Ananthapur is 148 km away from this place. Hindupur is the closest railway station to reach Hemavathi. In ancient period this town was the capital of the rulers of Pallavas Empire. Chola architectures were famous in that period and you will find several monuments in the town of Chola structural designs. It is historical destination and by visiting this spot you will learn a lot about the history of ancient Ananthapur. 

Penukonda: located at 50 km distance from Ananthapur on Bangalore highway. Local people recognize this spot as Ghangari. Here again you will get the amazingly constructed fort and the strategic view of the town. 

Lepakshi: one of the important tourist attractions of Anantapur region is Lepakshi. This town is well-known for historical view located at 110 km distance from Ananthapur. Hindupur is the closest another tourist attraction of this town.  
Tadipatri: As there are many places to visit in Ananthapur, Tadipatri is one of them located at 90 km distance from the destination. In Tadipatri you can visit Chintala Venkataramana shrine. Here you can enjoy the Pennar River flows from 1 km distance of the temple. 

Aluru Kona: A small town at 5 Km distance from Tadipatri is next place to visit. The ruler Bukkaraya constructed Ranganatha Swami temple in 1334 AD. Here a small waterfall is one more attraction for the voyagers.

However, Anantapur is the Indian tourist place that is linked to big cities of India like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, New Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam and Pune.

Solapur

Solapur, one of the biggest cities of Maharashtra is the target of the day. It is the 6th largest city of state as well. This city is bordering two states such as Maharashtra and Karnataka. People from different communities are living in this city. You will find Marathi, Kannada, Urdu and Telugu languages, though Marathi is the spoken by maximum people.


Solapur is basically a trade center having big textile factories. This is the reason city is also known as Manchester of India. Bed sheets and towels of Sholapur are famous throughout the world. Power looms and cotton mills are other major industries to the city. Worlds 2nd biggest spinning mill is located in Solapur.


Solapur is the word that means 16 villages (sola = 16 and pur= villages). We can say Solapur is a mixture of 16 different villages such as Aadilpur, Chapaldev, Ahmedpur, Fatehpur, Kalajapur, Jamdarwadi, Khadarpur, Muhammadpur, Khandervkiwadi, Ranapur, Shaikpur, Sandalpur, Solapur, Sonapur, Sonalagi and Vaidakwadi.


Solapur played important role in India’s freedom from British Rule. Many freedom fighters were sentenced death by the British court nearly 1930.

India's tourism is an all-time favorite for abroad voyagers. Solapur is turned as a good choice for such people. Few historical spots, temples, gardens, chokes and monuments are a major attraction in the city.

Bustard Sanctuary: The most interesting place for birdwatchers. Grassland species are the key attraction. Quails, Sandgrouse, Larks, Indian Bustard, Indian Coursers, Eurasian Doves and Red Collared are most known birds of the park. Vehicle entry into the park is not allowed because of noise pollution protection. Blackbuck is easily visible in the park.

Bazaar: Purchase the favorite textile items from the best markets within the city. You are getting a chance to visit Aamina Bazaar, Meena Bazaar and local market buy bedsheets, covers, towels, curtains and many other items.


Hazrat Shah Dargah: The Muslim religious place that is located at few km distances from central Solapur. People have been huge believe in Dargah; they think all wishes get fulfilled if you pray with true values at the Dargah.

Solapur Qila: A historical palace built in the central part from the city. Lots of the rulers of Chalukas and other dynasties ruled the city at several cities. City faced countless battles since the ancient period, but the fort is still alive. The strong foundation of the fort will still keep this fort active for a longer time.

By Road: City is properly linked through road as well. Maharashtra state buses are available from Hyderabad, Mangalore, Dhule, Ratnagiri, Nagpur, Sangli, Nanded and Kolhapur.


By Air: Solapur domestic airport is available, but the airport is not having any flights. Lack of requirement is the reason you will not get any flight to Solapur. However, private charted plans can be hired to reach this destination.

Rampur

Rampur is the city situated closer to Indo-Nepal border. You have to reach Rohilkhand district of Uttar Pradesh to reach Rampur city. This article is about the historical city of India popular for palace, national library and many other monuments. Basically, Rampur is the industrial state of India, but there are several tourist attractions that show the value of this city for tourism. Cotton mill and sugar refinery are main industries of the city. 





​Rampur region is the group of 4 villages founded by King Ram Singh. Later, the city was named as Faizabad. However, there are many other cities known as Faizabad so the city got the new name as Mustafabad (alias Rampur). This city is having black history as it played important role for British Army in the first Indian Independence War in 1857. The Nawabs of Rampur fought against the Indian army that helped the British rulers to control the war from northern portion.




​Rampur city is surrounded by Bareilly city in east, Udham Singh Nagar in north, Badaun city in south and Moradabad city in west. 



​Weather: If you are planning for Rampur then be aware that summer is hottest and not to visit period as the temperature goes to 43 °C most of the time. Winter is the best period to reach Rampur city. 

​Music: Rampur city is popular as the birthplace of many legends of Hindustani Classical Music. Rise of Gharanas Maihar and many more (music schools) are proof that people of city are music lovers. Some big names in Hindustani classical music legends are Ustad Allauddin Khan, Wazir Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Vasant Rai, Nikhil Banerjee, Pannalal Ghosh, Sharan Rani and Bahadur Khan.

Jama Masjid: Rampur is the Muslim city, and Jama Masjid is the initial spot to visit. This city was ruled by Nawab Faizullah Khan who built the Jama Masjid. Big market surrounding the monument is major attraction for visitors. 



​Raza Library: A public library established by Nawab Faizullah Khan is the next place to visit. However, the library was designed for his  use, but after independence, it is declared as public place. Raza library is listed as the biggest book collection store of Asia. Here you will find a collection of big scholars, painters, poets, calligraphers, literature and musicians. 

​Rampur Planetarium: A planetarium established by state government is another attraction for visitors. Sources say Rampur Planetarium is the first digital laser planetarium of India. 


Gandhi Samadhi: One of the major attractions of city is Gandhi Samadhi that is the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. 



Kothi Khas Bagh: A special palace garden or Kothi Khas Bagh is located at Rampur. The spot is 30 km distant from Moradabad city of Uttar Pradesh. The palace is spread in 300-acre land designed in European style. 

Ambedkar Park: A memorial dedicated to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is the next place to visit. The beautiful garden is located close to railway line.

Sawai Madhopur - Historical Places of

Rajasthan is always the major attraction for visitors. The reason behind is their cities are proof of royalty era. The whole state is an excess romantic charm. Amareshwar Mahadeo Shrine: Get the route of Ranthambhor National Park to reach the Amareshwar temple of Lord Shiva. The surrounding area of the temple is full of greenery turned as best picnic center.


Rameshwaram Dham: One more location at only gap of 60 kms is available for you. Of course, dam areas are always green in surrounding. Chambal and Banas are two rivers in Rameshwaram dam. Shiv Ratri is the major festival when people gather at this temple in large amount.

If you are coming from Jaipur then you to travel for 158 km to reach Sawai Madhopur. Delhi is 349 km far, Indore is 467 km away, Kanpur is 476 km distant and Lucknow is 549 km far from the destination.

By Train: Sawai Madhopur Junction is available that is directly connected to many major cities of India. Delhi and Mumbai are two major rail hubs to reach the destination. Jaipur is another big station having direct trains for Madhopur station. You can get the train from Chennai and Pune as well for Madhopur.

Ghanerao

Rajasthan is the big attraction point for travelers in India. The reason behind is there are countless places in the state that are famous like maximum spots are popular for their historical monuments, holy beliefs and bravely battles during freedom fight. Today our target Indian tourist place is Ghanerao that is the small village of Desuri tehsil in Pali region, Rajasthan.


Ghanerao is established on Sadri-Desuri road. Frankly speaking there are limited spots in the town for visitors, though the nearby big tourist destinations made this place special tourism attraction. Kumbhalgarh fort and Ranakpur temples are closest point and you have to travel to Ghanerao if you want to reach any of the spot. If you plan to visit Kumbhalgarh then you can enjoy the real Wildlife Sanctuary Park located at this region. Ghanerao is having countless small and big Hindu temples so don’t forget to take blessings of Hindu god if you are going through this way. Nearly 11 Jain shrines are available in the town in which few are quite old. Muchhal Mahavir Temple, Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Charbhujaji and Murlidhar are some famous holy spots of the town. ‘Muth’ recognized as Giriji Ki Dhani is located at outer area of town. Kumbhalgarh - Wild Location of Rajasthan

A place that is famous for fort of Rajasthan is our next destination. Kumbhalgarh is the Mewar citadel place in Rajsamand region of State Rajasthan, India. This Indian tourist place is popular as World Heritage Site because of amazingly constructed Hill Forts in the state. Maximum citadels are constructed in 15th century by King Kumbha. However, all forts were completed by the end of 19th century so the place is named after King Kumbha as Kumbhalgarh. If we go through history of this tourist place of India we will find that many big rulers of nation got birth in this place. One of the big names is Maharana Pratap who was the great emperor and fighter of Mewar. Presently fort is open for the visitors and is enormously lit for few minutes in the evening. Some people identify this place as Kumbalgarh too. The town is located at 82 km distance from Udaipur that is another big tourism spot of Rajasthan. For Mewar empire Kumbhalgarh fort is most important place after Chittaurgarh.



The town itself is having beautiful natural spots and amazingly constructed temples. For fort you have to reach the hilltop of 1100 meters from the sea level. Its walls are extended 36 kilometers route and front wall is 15 feet thick. There are 7 fortified gateways in Kumbhalgarh. You will be surprised that nearly 360 temples are constructed inside the fort area in which 300 shrines are ancient Jain temples. Once you reach the top of palace you can easily view the high ranges of 10 Kms of Aravalli Mountains. 



Historical background of city:
As per legend the king Kumbha was unsuccessful to built walls of the fort. Later he consulted the spiritual preceptor and was told for voluntary human sacrifice to solve the impediment king is getting for construction. That spiritual advisor also said to construct temple and the human sacrificed head should fall in that temple. A solider from his army came in front for this sacrifice. After his death a temple was constructed in such area and named as Hanuman Pol. You can find the temple at the entrance part of the temple. 



Rana Kumbha was supportive king for local people. He gave all support to people for their welfare. During the construction of fort wall he used massive lamps for light and consumed 50 Kg ghee and 100 Kg of cotton. According to records wall of Kumbhalgarh fort is 2nd largest wall in whole Asia.

Tourism spots in Kumbhalgarh:
Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary: initial place to visit in this Indian tourist place is Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. The average area of wildlife is 586 sq km. surrounded with Aravalli ranges. Some part of Kumbhalgarh wildlife is added in Udaipur, Pali and Rajsamand cities. 



Kumbhalgarh Fort: with nominal entry charges you can visit the Kumbhalgarh Fort which is next prime location of town. The fort is constructed closer to Banas River surrounded with 13 hill peaks. Ranakpur Jain Temples: Jain temples are always special in the world because of their structural designs. Muchhal Mahavira Temple: a shrine located inside the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary at 5 km from Ghanerao is next spot to attain. Idol of Lord Mahavira is major attraction of this temple. The special part of the idol is there is mustache on face of Lord Mahavira. 



As described earlier there are countless temples in Kumbhalgarh and few more important shrines are Parshuram Temple, Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple and Mammadev Temple. In late 1460 a temple and kund was constructed by Rana Kumbha. This shrine is placed on down area of the fort with four slabs.
