Mirik - Hill Station of West Bengal

Welcome To Mirik HILL STATION

Of course, finding the favorite destination for holidays is a tough job because there are countless locations where we can visit especially in India. Indian tourist places are unique and that is enough to confuse visitors to select the tourism spot of their choice. This is the small effort for our readers to find the top spot for their holidays. We are now reaching to Mirik the wonder hill resort of West Bengal state, India.


Mirik is the small beautiful town located at 52 km distance from Siliguri city. It is also 55 km far from closest air base city Bagdogra. The altitude of Mirik is 1,768 meters from sea level and most of the area is covered with dense forest and Himalaya ranges. As it is the northeast city it is also famous for big tea estates, orchards of orange and cardamom plantations.



This amazing hill resort has a refreshing effect and becoming the first choice for people who are aware of this place. If you are mentally prepared for this spot then you will get a chance to visit a wild flower garden, charming lakes and thriving forests of Japonica trees. This paradise is closer to Kanchenjunga as well that means you are getting multiple locations to visit if you reach Mirik.

Attractions in Mirik:
Sumendu Lake: The first place to visit in town famous as a prominent tourist attraction in Mirik. This man made lake is close to forest point surrounding with flower garden as well. Floating fountain is another key center of Sumendu Lake. However, swimming is not allowed in the lake, but you can enjoy the boating, some water event and Fishing at the lake.



Singha Devi temple: The next spot of Mirik also known as Devi Sthan positioned closer to the river. To reach the temple you have to take the bridge route over the Sumendu Lake. Devotees reach the temple at every occasion, though the surrounding area is beautiful as well. If we say it is the holy as well as picnic spot, then this statement is completely true for Singha Devi Temple. In facts this place is a group of temples and you will find the shrines of Hanuman, Lord Shiva and Maha Kali Mata visited by lots of devotees. Bokar Gompa is located at a few km distance from Devi Sthan.



Rameetay Dara: Less people know about this place, the reason is less popularity of state government. This ideal sunset and sunrise point is in 3rd position of our attraction spots of Mirik. It is the vintage place closer to Rai Dhap. A small pond that is also a source drinking water in the city is an ideal location for a picnic.



Hills: This tourism spot is having orange orchards and you can freely move to these orchards. Nature lovers or horticulture scientists reach, here is regular interval.

Tea Estates: Nearly eight tea plots are there in Mirik. One of the best estates among all is Thurbo T.E. Just 2 km away from Sumendu Lake. If you want to enter the factory then you need to get permission from the administration.



Accommodation in Mirik:
Mirik is serving limited tourist so accommodation could be little challenge in this place. Some luxury Hotels are available in the city, though staying at the resort is the best option. Resorts are much economical compared to luxury hotels.

When to reach Mirik?
Summer is the best period to reach Mirik as you can play some natural sports, golf and can take part in events conducted in summer. Best place for honeymoon couples and travel agencies are having several packages for honeymoon couple to Mirik. This Indian tourist place is having all facilities like advanced cities, but as the crowd is limited, so you might have to pay some extra amount to take pleasure of all faculties.



How to reach Mirik?
By Air: Closest airport is Bagdogra located at 55 km distance from Mirik. It is the domestic airport so international travelers have to reach the major cities of North East to reach Mirik. New Jalpaiguri is a good destination for abroad visitors to Mirik.

By Rail: Closest big railway station is New Jalpaiguri connected properly to all major cities of India.  

By Road: State government has managed the road network to reach Mirik as the city is the major source to connect some of the big cities of North East India. Direct bus service is available for Mirik from Bagdogra, Darjeeling, Siliguri, Kurseong and some more cities.

Note: Mirik is the beautiful place, but you need to make a plan to reach this place especially on summer holidays. Travelers are increasing every year for this spot so if you have made your mind to reach Mirik then try to get the advance bookings in hotels and resorts of the city otherwise you might face the problem of stay in the town.

Goecha La Pass - Best Highway Pass of Sikkim

Whenever I try to find the best place of tourism in India the first thing is look for the highest peak locations. I have personal interest to visit the most impressive hill stations especially for my vacations. Today my target is Goecha La Pass that is 4940 meters above the sea level. This is the high hill pass located at Sikkim, India. You can easily view the best Himalaya ranges from this Pass.



​If you read my previous post you might know about the world’s second largest peak Mt. Kanchenjunga. Once you reach to Goecha La Pass you can easily view this mount, though it is the base camp for trekkers to Himalaya Mountains. 

Goecha La is listed as most romantic elevated altitude trekking location in the Himalayas. Now when talk about the trekking at any particular place then we should know the dissimilar features of the location. This is must, because if you are not aware of the place then you might face the difficulties in unknown spot. Sikkim is the complete different spot then other states of India. The finest part of Sikkim is the state is full of greenery, natural scenery and amazing valleys. 



​The procedure I follow to find the best tourist place for my visit is searching the images of particular place. I was searching the location today and found that Goecha La Pass is missed by me. Nearly 400 places are described on my site, but I missed to search and discover this La Pass. When I saw the images of this place through different sources it was big surprise for me. Goecha La Pass is the best romantic trekking trail where a person must visit in his life, at least once. However, there are limited spots to visit in Goecha La Pass, but each attraction point is best then world. 



Just imaging you are walking through enchanting Tshoka forests with your partner. This could be a memorable moment of your life and you can also visit to vast Dzongri, Thansing meadows, blue water lake, view of Kanchenjunga and icy trail at Goecha La.



​Route to Kanchenjunga National Park starts from Goecha La Pass, which means you can enjoy two different tourist places of Sikkim. This trekking route is full of pictorial lush flora, the views of this high bypass is amazing too. 



Important facts about trekking in Goecha La:
To start trekking you have to reach Yuksom town that is closer to Sachin pass. Once you reach this location you will join conventional Dzongri to Goecha La trail. Following the route you will reach to descend steep forest and from this portion you have to overpass the Dzongri to Goecha La track. 



The Goecha La is beautiful place and the entire route is having big grazing valley and impervious forest. Reaching Dzongri top is pretty and dangerous too. From this portion you will reach to Black Kabru Pandim, then Kabru North and later Kabru Dome peaks. 



Some of the Camping companies are having offers and packages for Goecha La Pass. You can contact the firms for booking as they are professional trained performers.

These institutes are having registered permit from the state  
government as well as tourism department.



Medical facilities: For emergency treatment these firms are having initial medical facility. 

​Qualified & experienced trekkers: The teams are having leader, best guide and supporting staff for trekkers. 

For booking, the firms have provided the online form that is easily accessible from any corner of the world. However, it’s better if you book the ticket two months before your trip, because many people from different regions regularly search for the free dates and book this wonder adventure land as per their choice. 



How to Reach Goecha La Pass?
By Train: Closest railway station for this Indian tourist place is New Jalpaiguri a major rail hub of Sikkim. Trains from Kolkata, Delhi, Dehradun and many other cities are available for NJP. 

By Flight: If you are looking for the air route for this tourism spot then you can attain to Bagdogra airport. Flights for this domestic airport is available from metro cities such as Kolkata, Delhi and some more.

By Road: Whichever hill station you select road is the best way to reach the spot. Similar condition applies for Goecha La Pass as well. You can get the direct bus from Dehradun and some big cities of Sikkim.

Pelling - Hill Station of Sikkim



World is full of tourism and India is best among all. If you are looking for vacations destination then try Pelling. That is the small but astonishing town of Sikkim state, India. The good altitude of 2150 m that is equal to 7200 feet makes this wonderful spot favorite location for visitors. Pelling is only 10 kms away from Geyzing the district headquarters of Sikkim. However, there are not much places for travelers but the town is well-known hill station of India getting huge crowd every year. The roads are under repair and new routes are designed to reach Pelling easily.



The best part of Pelling is you can view the Himalaya ranges specially the Kanchenjunga hill from this spot. Kanchenjunga is world’s 3rd highest peak so definitely visitors are going to enjoy the snow covered hills from Pelling. Trekkers can do the exciting trips in Pelling as there are lots of hills for trekking.

Gangtok is 115 km distant from Pelling that is another tourist attraction. Siliguri is just 135 kms away from Pelling. Gangtok and Siliguri are two spots that are linked to big cities of India through train and air. To reach Pelling from mentioned cities you can hire jeeps or private taxis. Kalimpong, Jorethang and Namchi are 3 other cities popular for sightseeing.



Attraction of Pelling:
Pemayangtse Monastery: Initial place of the destination is Pemayangtse Monastery popular as Buddhist monastery. It is located at the altitude of 6840 feet. This oldest monastery of Sikkim was constructed under the supervision of Lhatsun Chempo. In the beginning this monastery was constructed with small structure, though Jigme Pawo increased the area and constructed again with bigger plans.



Kaluk: Another spot of Pelling is Kaluk one of the famous spots of Sikkim region. Located at 26 km distant from central part. It is recognized for Bersay Rhadodendron Park also popular for endless natural resources. Nature lovers identify the place as haven.



Khecheopalri Lake: Next location is Khecheopalri Lake that is sacred lake positioned in north-west side of Pelling. Some big names of this lake are Kha-Chot-Palri, Wishing Lake and Sho Dzo Sho. Meaning of each word is same such as “oh ladies please sit here”.



Dubdi Monastery: A historical place known as Dubdi Monastery is next attraction of Pelling also recognized as Yuksum Monastery. This Buddhist place is located in Nyingma Sect that is closer to Yuksum. Construction period of monastery is 1701 and early name was Hermit's cell.



Sewaro Rock Garden: A garden that is built and managed by tourism department of Sikkim is next place for visitors. The favorite things to watch in garden are pools, rocks, Zig-Zag foot paths and leisure services such as swimming pools, cafeterias and viewpoints.



Sangachoeling Monastery: Pelling is famous holy place especially for Buddhist people. There are countless monasteries and Sangachoeling Monastery is one of them. Its located at 7 km distance from Pemayangtse Monastery. Experts suggest this monastery is listed in 2nd place of oldest monastery of state. Distance between Pelling city and monastery is only 3 kms. 



Singshore Bridge: A nursery that is available with greenery is next place. Singshore Bridge is 198 meter bridge placed at 5 km distance from city. However, entry is paid here but its nothing when we compare the view of city from the bridge. This uppermost bridge of state is 2nd highest gorge suspension bridge of Asia.



Rimbi Waterfalls: If you love natural spots and like swimming then you should attain to Rimbi Waterfalls that is only 12 km far from Pelling city. Once you reach this place you must attain to Darap Village as well that is only 5 km away from Rimbi falls. Rimbi River is the major source for waterfall and the dense forest is also very attractive in such location.



KNP (Khangchendzonga National Park): A best park of Sikkim positioned in north direction of state spread in 850 square km. The height of this park is 1800 meters to 8600 meters that lists the park in highest national parks of India.

Darap Subba Village: A decorated and properly managed village known as Darap Subba is available for you at only gap of 6 km from Pelling. You have to pay a fee for entry in the village and you have to go towards Yuksum city to reach the place. Village is popular for Limboo Community, though there are many small families living in the town such as Bhutias, Tamangs, Chettris, Rais, Lepchas and Gurungs.



Some more locations that are easily reachable from Pelling are Rabdengtse Ruins (monument), Changey Waterfall, Mayong, Dzongri, Rinchenpong, Kanchenjunga Falls, Hee Burmiok, and Yuksam (hills).

Attaining to Pelling:   
If you start your journey from Pune for Pelling then you have to cover the distance of 2300 kms, though Kalimpong is 85 km far, Gangtok is 110 km away, Guwahati is 561 km and Shimla at 114 kms distance.                             

By Train: No railway station is there in Pelling because of difficult routes. However, closer railway station for Pelling is New Jalpaiguri linked to many cities of India like Alipur, Chennai, Howrah, New Delhi and Darjeeling. Trains for New Jalpaiguri are available from Dhupguri, Bhagalpur, Malda, Kishanganj, Katihar, BangaloreNew Delhi, Malda, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

By Air: Airport closer to Pelling is Bagdogra located in Bagdogra town. The distance between Pelling and Bagdogra is 124 kms. Flights from ChennaiGuwahatiKolkata and Mumbai are available for Pelling.

By Road: Buses from New Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra are available for Pelling. However, some big cities like DarjeelingShimla and some more cities are having buses for Pelling.

Sikkim - Heaven State of India




India is full of glorious places, though some of the destinations are amazing and people around the world are reaching such spots at various occasions. Sikkim is one of the fantasy destinations of India popular for scenic beauty. The residents of Sikkim are known as Lepchas. This paradise of India is 2nd smallest state of India nestled in Himalaya ranges. Amazing hill ranges including Khangchendzonga are located in Sikkim state. 



Visiting Sikkim will allow voyagers to enjoy rich culture, bio-diversity and striking scenery. Adventurous sports and festivals are also best thing in state Sikkim. You can imagine the beauty of state by watching some impressive and interesting images on various search engines. 

This tiny state of India is spread in four different regions such as West Sikkim, South Sikkim, North Sikkim and East Sikkim. Specialties about the regions of Sikkim are mentioned below:

Tsomgo Lake: A natural spot located at just 1 km distance is another tourist spot. This lake is in oval shape and local people consider it for holy values. Reach Tsomgo between May-August to enjoy the festival season. You can see the rare flora such as primulas, blue poppies, iris and yellow poppies. It get freeze in winter season and you can enjoy the skiing at lake but be careful as the temperature gets really low in winters.



Nathula Pass: World famous route between amazing hills is best place to visit. Nathula Pass is located at altitude of 14,200 feet. However, the pass is closer to India China border. This pass connects the Sikkim state to Tibet (region of China). Covered peaks, roaring waterfalls and zigzag roads give different feeling to travelers. Even the simple roads of Nathula pass are impressive as they are covered with trees from both sides. Voyagers have to get the permit to travel from this route as it connects two international borders. 



Pelling: Next place is Pelling preferred as best destination located at altitude of 6800 feet. View the world's 3rd uppermost peak Mount Kanchendzonga is possible from this spot. Some more attractions of Pelling are Pemayangtse Monastery, Sanga Choeling and Khecheopalri Lake. 



Rumtek Monastery: A monastery turned as favorite attractions for visitors of Sikkim. Enjoy the art work of 16th Gyalwa in this monastery. 



Do-Drul Chorten: Constructed by the leader of Nyingma from Tibetan Buddhism community in 1945. It is considered as best Stupa of Sikkim having 108 wheels for prayer. 



JNBG (Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden): Beauty of state is their greenery areas and amazing gardens. JNBG is one of them founded in 1987. This garden is closer to Rumtek Monastery and FDSG (Forest Department of the Sikkim Government) is handing the management part.

Nearest tourist attraction of Sikkim:
Darjeeling: One of the darling places of India having countless tourist attractions. It is the most demanding summer holiday spot popular for toy train. Famous Darjeeling tea farming makes it special location for nature lovers. 



Siliguri: Another big and best tourist attraction close to Sikkim is Siliguri. Superb landscape, snow views and capped peaks are best thing to see. 



Two other best and nearest spots from Sikkim are Kalimpong and Mirik. 

Attaining to Sikkim:
By Road: As Sikkim state is full of hills the easiest way to reach parts of state is road. NH (National Highway) 31 is directly connected to Sikkim allowing voyagers to cross Siliguri and Gangtok cities. Route to Gangtok is linked through Kolkata as well. The distance between Kolkata and Gangtok is just 721 km. However, Darjeeling is only 139 kms away from Gangtok. Kalimpong is also easy reachable from Gangtok city. 

By Rail: Closest railhead for Sikkim is New Jalpaiguri located at 117 km distance from Gangtok. Trains from Kolkata are available in good frequency for New Jalpaiguri. Next station Siliguri connected to some big stations of India. 

By Air: Domestic airport Bagdogra is having flights from SiliguriGangtok and some more cities. However, big international airport Kolkata is serving both national and international flights at good frequency. Flights from New Delhi, ChennaiMumbaiBangalore and big cities are available for Kolkata.
